Vendéen Sheep, The quality breed for excellent conformation
The Killeen flock of Vendéen sheep breeds for outstanding quality in muscle conformation and body length, while maintaining the Vendeen traits of prolificacy from good milk producing lines. The flock is a registered member of the Irish Vendéen Sheep Society. It participates in the Irish Department of Agriculture Livestock Improvement Scheme for Sheep and has Scrapie Monitored status. Within the flock, ewes and rams are selected for muscle conformation, body length, carcass leaness (via the Lean Meat Index; LMI), growth rate and genetic resistance to scrapie
.
