    The story so far ...

    1997
Board of Management approach Department re the state of the infant 'temporary' classrooms.

    Local Department inspector supports approach.

Mr. Eamonn Greville, Department Architect, visits school, makes report for the replacement of the 'temporary classrooms' and refurbishment of the main school building.

    Oct. 1998
Working on original 'refurbishment plans'Ashlin Coleman, Architects, appointed design team by Department for refurbishment. Plans drawn in conjunction with Board of Management and submitted to the Department.

    Jan. 2000
Department reject refurbishment, opt instead for new building. Plans have to begin again as part of Stage 1, 2, 3. Go slow by Department staff slows progress.

    June 2001
Stages 1, 2 and 3 approved by Department. Stages 4 (Planning Premission), 5 (Tender Document) proceed. Planning permission delayed by technical clarifications from Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council.

Planning permission issued late Nov. 2001 and tender document prepared/handed to Department.

    June 2001 - present
After initial payments by Department for design team fees being paid, recent fee requests have not all been processed and paid by Department.

Given that the construction work of securing the site, part demolition of the existing building, erection of temporary school and the building of new school building needs to start in June, it is critical that the Department approve stages 4/5 and move to stages 6, 7 and 8 expeditiously.

Moreover, the school is geared up to starting next June 2002 - we close for the summer on 14th June. Without stages 4/5 being approved and 6, 7 and 8 coming into play, this looks unlikely.
