The opening of a new national
school in Kilkenny in September 1987, presented another choice
to parents for the primary education of their children.
The school is the same as all
other national schools except that it is totally under lay
management and is multi-denominational, where children of
Catholic, Protestant, other religious and non-religious backgrounds
and persuasions have equal right of access and where the social,
religious and cultural background of each child is equally
respected.
The school was established, with
the approval of the Minister for Education, by a group of
parents who recognised the demand for a co-educational, multi-denominational
school under parent control for the children in the Kilkenny
area.
On 16th December 1996 the school
moved to its permanent premises on the Waterford Road.
