Recent Results
Milford athletes Dan and Greg King both competed for Donegal in the Marathon at the Community Games finals in Mosney recently. Dan led the Donegal team home 1st place with Greg finishing in 17th place. Donegal also took the team gold. The Milford 5k road race was also held recently with a strong showing by the local athletes. James King took 1st place in the Senior Mens race in a time of 15mins22secs. In the Junior Mens race Dan King ran strongly taking 1st place with Brendan boyce close behind in 3rd.

Northern Ireland Senior Championships
The Northern Ireland senior championships were held at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast last Saturday 11th June. Brian Boyce represented Milford in the 400m and ran well against tough opposition finishing 4th in the heat in a time of 53.21secs.

All Ireland Schools Championships
Three Milford athletes travelled to Tullamore last Saturday 4th June for the All Ireland Schools championships. Brendan Boyce, representing Mulroy College Milford, competed in the 3k Walk and finished an impressive 2nd in a close race. James and Dan King both representing St Eunans College Letterkenny also ran well against tough opposition. James battled hard in the Senior 800m to finish 2nd in a new P.B of 1min55.43secs. Dan was unlucky to finish just outside the medals in 4th place in the Junior 1500m.

Donegal Championships 2nd Round
The second round of the Donegal Championships was held in Letterkenny on Sunday 29th May and a large turnout meant strong competition in most events. Brian Boyce was Milford's only representative at Senior level and continued his recent good form taking bronze in a closely fought 100m race. Brian then went on to record a personal best in wining the 400m in a time of 52.2secs. Adam Friel showed his class winning the U-14 1500m leading from start to finish. Rurai McDonnacha was also in good form taking bronze in the Shot Putt U-18 and a gold in the 2k Walk.

Busy week for Milford Athletes
The Ist round of the Donegal Championships, held in Finn Valley on Sunday 15th May, saw the return from injury of Brian Boyce who took 3rd place in the 200m. Brian followed this up with another fine performance at the AAI Games in Dublin a week later in the 400m finishing 6th in the B Final in a time of 53.40secs.
James & Dan King continued their fine early season form in the Ulster Schools Championships. James recorded a new P.B in the 800m to take 2nd place in 1min55.4secs and Dan won the Junior 1500m in 4min22secs. James was in action again in the Inter Firms 5k road race in Letterkenny on Tuesday 24th May. James found the going tough over the longer distance but held on to finish 3rd in a time of 15min40secs.

Ulster District Schools T&F
The club would like to congratulate James and Dan King on their success at the District Schools T&f in Antrim on Wednesday 11th May. Dan won the Junior boys 1500m in a time of 4min20secs and James finished 2nd in the Senior boys 800m in 1min56secs.

Donegal Vs Connaught
The first annual Donegal Vs Connaught challenge match took place in Sligo Saturday 25th April. Milford had three athletes competing and all recorded impressive wins in there respective events. Brendan Boyce was first on the track in the 1500m Walk and he led from the start to win in a time of 6mins36secs. Dan King competed in the 800m U-16 and also had an easy win in a new personal best of 2mins06secs. James King recorded a double success winning both the senior 800m in a time of 1min58secs and the 400m in a time of 52secs.

Milford Athletes continue to impress
Milford athletes were involved in major competitions again this weekend 2nd/3rd April. Dan King made the journey to Cardiff where he captained the Irish Junior mens team in an International Schools cross country event including Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. Dan led his team home taking a well deserved 4th place individually with the team taking silver behind England.
The second weekend of the National Juvenille Indoor athletics was held in Nenagh at the weekend and again Milford athletes put in some good performances. Adam Friel was outstanding in the 800m U-14 taking the bronze medal in a new personal best time of 2.17mins. Also competing for Milford were the girls U-14 relay team of Eve King, Eimear Blaney, Karen and Marie McElwaine. The girls ran well taking 3rd place in the heats but just missing out on a final place.

Letterkenny 3K
James King won the annual Letterkenny 3k held on Easter Sunday. James went with the early pace and made a decisive break near the finish to win in a time of 9.07 mins from Finn Valley's Charlie Gallagher.

Busy Weekend for Milford Athletes
The UK Sportshall athletics and the first round of the National Junior Indoors were held last weekend 19th & 20th March. Adam Friel, Eve King and Eimear Blaney all made the journey to Birmingham for the Sportshall athletics and did exceptionally well with Adam taking the bronze medal in the 6 lap event in the boys U-13 with the team taking 5th place overall.
The club had three athletes competing at the National Indoor Athletics in Nenagh. Dan King was in impressive form taking silver in a very competitive 1500m U-15. Rurai McDonnacha achieved a pb of 9.83m in the U-18 Shot to finish a respectable 4th in his first National competition and Collette Peoples ran well to reach the final of the 60m U-18 against strong opposition.

Schools Cross Country.
Congratulations to Dan King on winning the National Schools Cross Country in Dungarvan on Saturday 5th March. Dan, representing St Eunans College Letterkenny, has been in impressive form all year took the gold against strong opposition and led the St Eunans team to the silver medal in the team competition.

Milford AC Success in Antrim.
Milford Athletes made the journey to Antrim last weekend 12th & 13th of February for the Ulster Championships and qualification for the National Indoors. The team performed well in tough wintery conditions. Adam Friel continued his run of form winning the U-14 800m. Dan King was also in good form winning the U-16 1500m and Rurai McDonnacha competing with Milford for the first time got off to a winning start in the Shot Putt U-18. Collette Peoples ran well to take 2nd place in the 60m U-18 and 4th in the 300m. The girls U-14 relay team of Marie & Karen McElwaine, Eimear Blaney and Eve King finished 3rd. There were good performances also from Annette mcCarron 6th in the 800m U-13, Chris King 6th in the 800m U-13 and Ciaran Coll who made the final of the 60m U-12. Congratulations to Adam Friel, Dan King, Rurai McDonnacha, Collette Peoples and the girls relay team who all qulaified for the National Indoors in Nenagh.
Congratulations also to Eve King, Eimear Blaney and Adam Friel who were members of the Donegal Sportshall teams who took a clean sweep at the West Ulster finals in Enniskillen on Thursday 10th February and to James & Dan King who won their Ulster Regional Schools cross country in Coleraine.

Milford Athletes Excel At Indoors.
Milford Athletic Club had athletes competing at both the Scottish Indoors and the Irish National Indoors this weekend 5th/6th February. The club had four athletes competing in Glasgow and returned with 3 medals. Adam Friel was first in action in the U-13 800m and qualified for the final in fine style. In a tough final Adam showed his character and battled hard to take the bronze medal in a time of 2.29mins. Dan King was next iin action in the U-15 1500m and qualified easily for the final in a time of 4.45mins. Dan showed his class in the final leading from the start to win easily in a time of 4.34mins. Next on the track was James King who competed in the U-20 800m. This was a tough race for James who battled hard in the final to finish in 3rd place in a time of 1.57mins. Also competing in Glasgow was Collette Peoples who doubled up in the 60m and the 200m U-20. Collette was unlucky to miss both finals recording times of 8.8secs in the 60m and 28.5secs in the 200m.
The Boyce brothers, Brian and Brendan, were Milford's only competitors at the National Indoors in Nenagh. Brian was first in action in the 200m and ran a good race in the heat to finish 2nd in a time of 24.55ses and qualify for the semi-finals unfurtunately Brian had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury. Brendan had no such problems recording a personal best of just over 23mins to claim silver in the Junior Mens 5K Walk....results

Sportshall Athletics.
Milford Athletes performed well at the recent Sportshall athletics events held in Letterkenny and Ramelton. Congratulations to Adam Friel, Eve King and Eimear Blaney who were all selected for the Donegal team to compete in the upcoming Ulster Sportshall athletics meeting. Congratulations also to all the athletes who competed in the U-9 and U-11 ages in Ramelton. A full list of results can be found on the Results page.

Stormont International Cross Country.
Milford athletes made a good start to the year with some fine performances at Stormont. Adam Friel had an excellent race finishing 7th in the boys U-13 and was the second Irish finisher. Dan King also had a great race finishing in 8th place in the boys U-15 and was also the second Irish finisher.
James King ran well in the Junior mens race finishing a respectable 19th in a competitive race. Milford had 5 competitors in the girls U-13 and the team took 6th place led home by Annette McCarron in 22nd place closeely followed by Karen McElwaine 31st, Marie McElwaine 39th, Eimear Blaney 47th and Eve King 48th.
