Erected in 1902 to the memory of Algernon William George,
Ninth Lord Carbery
by his wife. This memorial cross is formed of white limestone and stands
30 feet high.
The Crucifixion is depicted on the eastern side of the cross facing the
rising sun. The four points of the cross, surrounding the Crucifixion,
are adorned by mournful angels in crouching positions. The circle on the
cross, enriched with elaborate carvings, symbolizes eternity.

On the east side (facing the Old Head of Kinsale)
"To the greater glory of God and in loving memory of Algernon
William George, 9th Baron of Carbery, who was born IX September MDCCCLXVIII,
and who died XII June MDCCCXCVIII. This cross has been erected by his
wife, Mary, MCMI.
'The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, they are in peace.'
On the north side (facing the Castle):
"Unto Him that loveth us and washed us from our sins in His own
blood be glory for ever and ever."
On the west side (facing Rosscarbery):
"God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
On the south side (facing the ocean):
"I know Him whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is
able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day."
