(Part 2)

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?
We all need to look at our attitudes to waste and ask what we can do to improve the situation. The consumer age has brought with it many benefits but downside is that throwing things out has become a part of our culture.
communities need to harness their knwoledge and energy to help prevent and reduce waste. The way forward is to implement the waste hierarchy and every citizen must get involved in some way.

Here are some of the things you could do;

Bring a carrier bag rather than accepting plastic bags in the supermarket

set up a recycling scheme in the local area or just find out where local schemes are and start using them

Build a compost heap so that your food wastes no longer go into the bin.

There are many ways in which people can actively reduce the amount of waste that they put out for collection and increase the amount of waste that they recycle. For households, this what waste prevention means.
