FOOTBALL SENIOR,JUNIOR,UNDER-21, MINOR League win over Tuam *ANNAGHDOWN 1-9 TUAM 0-9 On Sunday we won our final game in the Senior League with three points to spare over Tuam Stars, and we now have to play Kilkererin in a play off, and the winners will remain in group 'a' next year (FINAL LEAGUE TABLE)
Fr Griffins win County Final At Corofin on Saturday we were beaten by 0-12 to 0-10 in the County Final of the Junior 'C' football Championship by Fr Griffins,We scored first with a point from James Melia and the same player scored two more with Jimmy Forde adding another to leave us trailing at the break by two points 0-4 to 0-6. Four points from James Melia and a Marc Connaughton point had it all square in the last quater nine points each, Jimmy Forde then put us a point up but Fr Griffins had the last two scores to win by two points and advance to Junior 'B' next year. Junior'C' Championship Final ends in Draw with Fr Griffins At Corofin on Sunday our County Final finished all square on a of scoreline of 1-9 to 2-6,we had a very bad start and were two goals down by the fifth minute. The fightback began after eight minutes with a point from James Melia and one from Gerry Forde a minute lated, four more points from Melia had it all square with three minutes left in the half,but Fr Griffins had the last score to leave us one down at the break 0-6 to 2-1. Fr Griffins scored first in the second half a point but a Keith Hanley goal on eight minutes gave us the lead for the first time in the game followed by a Mark Connaughton point two minutes lated. Fr Griffins had the next three scores but James Melia made it level with only two minutes left and Adrian Pierce put us a point up in injury time.A poined free for Griffins after two minutes of injury time and the game ended all square. JUNIOR 'C' OUT OF LEAGUE At Caherlistrane on Sunday we were beaten by Kilconly in the League re-play by 1-6 to 0-6 with our scores coming from Mattie Coleman 0-4 and a point each from Jimmy Forde and Eamon Burke. At half-time we were a point down 0-3 to 0-4. VITAL SENIOR LEAGUE WIN At Cregg on Saturday we beat Kilkererin in the senior league by 1-8 to 0-7 and added two vital points to our league table,We have one game to play against Tuam who are also on eight points and as the table shows only three points seperate the top eight teams,Only a win in our last games may keep us in the top flight next year.

We were beaten by Mountbellew in the Junior 'A' league and are out of the running for league honours while our 'C' team drew with Kilconly 1-9 to 2-6 also in the league.
Junior North title for Junior 'C' Annaghdown 2-7 Kilconly 0-9 On a wet and dreary evening we beat Kilconly by four points in Tuam Stadium on Sunday to qualify for the county final against Fr Griffens, At half time we lead by 2-5 to 0-6 with our scores coming from Declan Regan 1-0,Mark Connaughton 1-0 James Melia 0-3 and a point each from David Moylan and Mattie Coleman. After the break scores were few and far between with our first coming after fifteen minutes a point from Mattie Coleman and James Melia point seven minutes later finished our scoring, Manager Alan Duggan and the panel deserve great credit for all their had work over the year and we wish them well in the final.
Senior league defeat to Milltown At Milltown on Sunday we were beaten by 2-13 to 2-4 in game it was vital for our survival in group 'A' next year, our scorers were Michael Melia 1-3 and a goal from Michael Newell in the first half, and a John Killilea point was our only score of the second half. Our Junior 'C' team we held to a draw by Kilconly on Saturday in the North Champioship Final it finished 1-7 each Junior 'C' beat Caltra in Cregg At Cregg on Sunday we Beat Caltra by 0-13 to 0-4 in the Junior'C'Championship North Semi-Final, at half-time we lead by 0-9 to 0-3 with our scorers coming from James Melia 0-3,David Melia 0-3,John Hegarty 0-3,Seamus Healy 0-2 and two points from Kieran Mitchell Senior League win over Oranmore and Minor defeat Our Minor football team played two games this week beating Caherlistrane on Tuesday and were beaten by Corofin in the North quarter-final on Friday evening . Our Seniors had a one point victory over Oranmore on Saturday evening in Oranmore on the scoreline of 0-9 to 0-8 despite the win we are still in drop zone to go down to section 'b' of the league as we have only six points from our six games played and four teams go down Junior Defeat by Tuam in Championship At Corofin on Sunday we were beaten by Tuam in the Junior 'A' Championship semi-final by four points League Defeat to Corofin
JUNIOR WIN ON THE DOUBLE IN MONIVEA JUNIOR 'A' CHAMPIONSHIP WIN OVER CALTRA At Monivea on Saturday we beat Caltra by 2-10 to 0-09 and are now in the semi-final of the 'A'Championship, John Mannion opened our scoring with a first minute point and he scored two more before Patrick Newell goaled to leave us ahead by 1-3 to 0-4 mid way through the half, points from John Mannion,Darren Newell,Johnny Murphy and John Mannion again gave us a lead of 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time. A penalty converted by Frankie Burke after three minutes of the second-half and a point a minute later from the same player gave us a lead we never lost and two more points from Darren Newell made us winners by 2-10 to 0-9 and a semi-final game with Tuam. JUNIOR 'C' WIN AGAINST KILKERRIN-CLONBERNE The first game in Monivea on Saturday saw our Junior 'C' team gain a semi-final place after beating Kilkerrin-Clonberne by 0-14 to 1-6, we lead at half-time by 0-6 to 0-4 with our scores coming from David Moylan (1) James Melia(3) and John Hegarty (2) The second-half started with three points from John Herarty and two more from James Melia to give us a lead of 0-11 to 0-4 with ten minutes to go, A goal and a point from Kilkerrin-Clonbern closed the gap but three more James Melia points sealed the victory and a place in the semi-finals

JUNIOR FOOTBALL On Satuday our Junior 'A'team lost to Williamstown in the league,but our 'C' beat St Kerill's on Sunday in Ballymacward STUDENTS GAIN REVENGE Annaghdown 0-10 N.U.I.G. 2.10 A goal in each half in Tuam on Sunday evening saw N.U.I.G gain revenge for their 2001 defeat We scored first after three minutes with a Kevin Keane point followed by points from Liam o'Flynn and Niall Coleman to make it level after ten minutes, The students went ahead three minutes later but Michael Melia made it all square with fifteen minutes left to the break, Michael scored another point five minutes later but a college goal with four minutes to go made it 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time. The second-half began with a Michael Melia point in to the breeze after one minute our next score arrived twenty minutes later but in the mean time N.U.I.G had tagged on 1.-4 to put the game over as a contest, Vincent Small (1) and Michael Melia (4) were our second scorers. After two years and in two county finals in a row we now face a long summer with only the league to look foward to,The loss of Morgan Duggan,Michael Newell,Damien Burke and Ronnie Leonard was always going to make it hard in this Championship and it showed up front where we had very few players able to pop vital scores, Our defence were solid and they passed the test on Sunday with Paul Creaven in top form, Our midfield started well but soon faded from the scene.
On Friday evening (june 20 th) in Cregg we collected two more league points with a narrow in over Monivea/Abbey in Junior 'A' at half-time we lead by 3-4 to 1-6 our scorers were Daniel Riordan 1-3, Johnny Murphy 1-0, Thomas Forde 1-0 and a point each from Carl Leonard,Darren Newell, Marc Connaughton and Paul Marley
A SHOT FROM SATURDAYS GAME IN TUAM STADIUM ANNAGHDOWN 1-4 ST BRENDANS 0-10 At Tuam on Saturday evening we lost our championship game to St Brendans by three points and for the second year in a row we will have to the back door route,The lost of three of our star players was always going to make our progress hard this year and our display on Saturday evening highlighted that fact. At half-time we were behind by one point 1-3 to 0-7 and in the second-half we only scored one point from sub John Killilea. our other scorers were Michael Melia 1-2 and Niall Coleman 0-1. Our next game will have to be won if we are to advance in the championship and it will take a super inprovement from the display against St Brendans if we are to advance to the next round. ANNAGHDOWN -1-12 CARRAROE 0-7 At Cregg on Sunday morning we collected our first points in this years Senior League with a win over Carraroe,The morning rain and wind made the going very slippery and players found it hard to control the ball. We were a point down after three minutes, but a point and a goal from Damien Burke after six and nine minutes gave us a lead we never lost, Kevin Keane with a point and two more from Damien Burke made it 1-4 to 0-1 after fifteen minutes, Points from Michael Newell, Damien, Niall Coleman and Michael Melia made the half-time score 1-8 to 0-3 at the break. The second- half produced eight points four for each side,our scores came from Michael Melia 0-3 and Michael Newell one point

MINOR LEAGUE WIN AT CREGG ON SUNDAY EVENING WE BEGAN OUR MINOR LEAGUE WITH A WIN OVER ST JAMES BY 2-11 TO 0-9. AT HALF-TIME WE LEAD BY 1-5 TO 0-4 WITH FRANKIE BURKE SCORING 0-7 AND GOALS FROM NIALL JOYCE AND CONOR CREAVEN OUR OTHER SCORERS WERE NIALL COLEMAN AND RAYMOND NEWELL
Senior defeat by Salthill At Salthill on monday we were beaten by 1-5 to 0-7 in our first league match of 2003 it was a game we could have won as we held Salthill scoreless in the first half and our lead of three points was a poor reflection as we dominated the match in all sectors except on the scoreboard. We opened the scoring on five minutes with a Michael Melia point and Damien Burke had our other scores on the seventh and twenty minute mark. Salthill scored a goal after five minutes of the second half and scored a point a minute later to lead for the first time, Michael Melia and Damien Burke scored two points and with fifteen minutes to go we lead by one point.
