Classes
Here is a brief description of the main types of classes taught on a regular basis at An Seomra Yoga:
Sivananda: This style of class consists of ten
to fifteen minutes of breathing techniques at the beginning to relax the mind
and allow the person to focus and let go of any tension they picked up during
the day. Then are a series of postures, each dedicated to relaxing and lengthening
muscles while also strengthening and toning. Usually in a posture when you
are lengthening one muscle you are pushing from another muscle and therefore
strengthening it. When muscles are being lengthened, it frees up the joints
and takes away tension, lactic acid and other toxins in the muscle (the body
has many toxins created naturally just by the breaking down of food into energy
etc.). This increased circulation also brings oxygen and nutrients to the
different parts of the body and removes waste.
This all leaves the body feeling lighter, more relaxed with better mobility.
The person also feels more relaxed and at ease due to all the releases in
the body. The class ends with guided relaxation or meditation techniques for
ten to fifteen minutes.
Kids Yoga: Is an hour of lighthearted yoga for children, it integrates
language arts, games, music, science, storytelling and more into a complete
curriculum to engage the “whole child” in the multiple of learning,
employing ecology, anatomy, earth care and life lessons that echo the yogic
principles of oneness, interdependence and FUN!.
In kids yoga classes, traditional yoga techniques have been recreated in playful,
simple and fun ways.
