Ardfield makes the ideal base for touring West Cork and Kerry. Situated just 1Km off the main West Cork road - N71, in the Owenabue Valley, the 'Gateway to West Cork', you can be in the heart of West Cork in under an hour, while still enjoying the benefits of Cork city and those of Kinsale - Ireland's Gourmet capital, both just 20 minutes drive. Ballinhassig is situated in the Owenabue valley, a traditional farming community, known for road bowling and a thriving equestrian environment. The nearby village of Halfway offers free access to an agricultural and transport museum. The village is overlooked by a unique feat of engineering, a massive stone viaduct built circa 1850. Crosshaven is a picturesque fishing village, headquarters of the Royal Cork Yacht club, reputed to be the oldest yacht club in the world. Nearby are fine beaches such as Fountainstown and Myrtleville to mention just two. There are up to 20 golf courses, many of which are 18 Hole, all within a 45 minute drive or less. Horseriding is widely available locally. The region is popular with anglers, for salmon and trout and deep sea fishing(in season). There are typical country pubs close by and excellent restaurants within easy reach. |
