Introduction
With the second generation, the Skyline was recreated as an upscale small car that satisfied the conditions of a family car in being easy to drive and requiring very little maintenance. In 1966 the Prince Motor Company merged with Nissan.

S-50 (1961 to 1967)

The Skyline S-50 E released in 1961 produced a more respectible 70bhp from the G-1 powerplant compared to the first generation Skyline. The S-50 came either with a 3 speed column change gearbox or as an 4 speed floor change for the more expensive models. There was also the option of the W-50, a station wagon version of the S-50.

Blra (1961)
Looking at the Blra it is hard to tell that it of japanese origin. That is because the car was not designed by an Japanese designer but by the Italian designer Michelotti. Another strange fact is that the car was hand built which is uncommon for Nissans. The car had a 1862cc engine producing 83 bhp.

S54-A and S54-B (1965 to 1968)
The body style of the S-50 but with 8 inches extra length at the front body giving the car an awkward, out of proportion look. The reason of the extra body length was to fit the more powerful In-line 6 cylinder engine with overhead camshaft, taken from the Nissan Gloria.

The S54-A had an G-7 1988cc engine producing 106 bhp while the S54-B used the same engine but with a higher compression ratio. The S54-B also had a running triple 40 DCOE-17 weber carbs giving the engine 127 bhp. It also came with a two-year or 30,000 kilometer warranty.

The chassis needed no lubrication for 30,000 kilometers of driving. The oil-impregnated sintered alloys used for the ball joints kept out rain and dust, giving the grease a longer service life. Nissan received a Technical Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan for this "successful extension of the lubrication interval of automobiles."

Although developed as a sports model, the Skyline 2000GT-B was mass-produced and achieved volume sales. Its standard specifications included three Italian-made Weber carburetors that delivered the world's highest levels of carburetor performance. Drivers well versed in automotive mechanisms would involuntarily utter cries of sheer delight at how superbly the car performed. The Skyline S54-B competed in car races held in Japan, outperforming strong foreign sports car rivals to win every race it contested without exception. The standard car used a 5 speed close ratio gearbox with a max speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).
