40th Macaoimh

 

Macaoimh Activities 
The 40th Macaoimh meet every Monday night from 7.30 to 9pm as well as going on hikes and weekends away. Members must be between 8 and 11 years old. If you are interested in joining the macaoimh or cubs, why not take a look at some of our recent activities.

US Visitors 2001
On the 22nd of October we had 2 special visitors from Maine USA. A Cub Leader and Cub from Pack 236 found out about us on the Internet and arrnaged to visit us while on holidays in Ireland!   As well as the 40th macaoimh many of the leaders and UNit COuncil members poped in to greet our visitors after the meeting and to have a cup of tea or coffee!

Cub Camp 2000    
Cub Camp 2000 was held in Kilcully from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th of May.  Macaoimh from Ballinlough & Carrigaline both participated.  Despite some showery weather the weekend was  great sucess with a Night hike, Trip to the Aqua Dome in Tralee, Bar-b-q, Campfire and Activity bases on the Sunday morning. 
    
Weekend to Tralee 2001
On Saturday & Sunday the 21st & 22nd of April, the 38th & 40th Macoimh went on a mini-weeeknd to Tralee.  We took the train to Tralee and enjoyed the Aqua Dome, a Music Quiz, the Windmill in Blenerville and came home on Sunday with lunch on the train.  Pictures to follow. 
Macaoimh Cup Winners 2001 

For the first time in  the 30 year history of the 40th Macaoimh, the cath have won the Regional Competition and have taken the Denis Barrett Macoimh Cup back to Ballinlough!  The results were announced as a presentation ceremony in Fota.

Internet Night 2001
In February this year we didi our 3rd annual Internet Project in the educational Opportunities Centre in CIT.  Each macoimh had to setup and email account and email the answers to a quiz.  It was very sucessful and many thansk to all in CIT for their help.

Cooking Night 2001
The 40th Macoimh held a cooking night in February.  Each macoimh had to make his his homemade beefburger using minced beed, egg & flour.  When they had it cooked on the gas rings they ate it and then made dessert - which consisted of Mini Apple Pie with hot Custard. Mmmm !!
