International Match at Ballymacelligott

Bill Keane from Travers City 'Cherry Pickers' Handball Club in Michigan USA demonstrates the finer points of the game

On Sunday last the Club welcomed Bill Keane of Travers City Handball Club to the Courts. Travers City is in Michigan USA. Bill had never played in the 60 x 30 court and was anxious to have a game. Clive Counihan and Pat McCarthy played him in two games and showed him all that was to be known about the finer points of the 60 x 30 court. In return he played both in the 40 x 20 and showed them how it is done in the US. This was the first International player to play in Ballymacelligott for some years and it was a great evenings entertainment.
Bill's overhand kill-shot and his disguised serve were particularly impressive and difficult to deal with and young Ballymac players could benefit greatly by studying these techniques.
We wish Bill and Diana all the best. We really enjoyed their visit to Ballymacelligott.
