Ballymacelligott Girls reach finals
of World Championships in Chicago
Maria & Sharon Daly took part in the World Championship
Games in Chicago over the past week. Sharon played in the
U19 age group, Maria in the U15 age group. Both girls teamed
up to play in the U19 doubles but were unlucky to lose to two American
girls in the World Final. Maria got to the U15 world final and her
opponent was Patricia Doyle of Wicklow. These girls have met on
a lot of occasions and true to form this game went to a tiebreaker.
Patricia Doyle won the tiebreaker 11/8. This was a truly remarkable
achievement for the two Ballymacelligott girls. To have two players
in a World championship final is a great feat. Not many players
can boast of this. Kerry Handball Board are tremendously proud of
both girls.
