I had always wanted a Wire Dachshund so when we moved to Ireland and we had a bigger house we were able to have one. We phoned Val Skinner, as we have known her for years, but she didn't have one available but she said that someone was looking to home dogs as they were very ill. That someone turned out to be Mrs Dachshund, Jill Johnstone, after a grilling from her she said we could have Pip.
Pip is by GB/Am Ch Starbarrack Diamond ex Silvae Daisycut, he had 2 RCCs (before we got him) and in 2003 he won the Annual Champion (Top Wire) award, pipping Mavis by one point. He is a super dog and we have had great fun together at the shows.
His notable wins have been a CACIB and DGS under Liz Cartledge, doing the double with Mavis under Jeff Horswell, placing at the Dachshund Club in 2003 and another three CACIBs.
In September 2004 he won open dog and the RCC at the Dachshund Club under breed specialist Mike Hall.
He has now received confirmation of his International Beauty Championship. The first Wire Dachshund in Ireland to acheive this notable achievement
Not bad going for your first Dachshund.
In June 2008, he fell asleep forever. I hope he is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
