February 2009

Just heard the most wonderful news BISS-Am Ch Barmaud Joshua has won BOS at WESTMINISTER!!!!!

February 2009

Haven't been to a show but the dogs are enjoying the very rare fall of snow. Here is a pic of Silvae Beads, aka Olive, the mother of Dean, Rita, Jessica, Joshua, Jacob, enjoying herself.

January 2009

Jessica was invited to the Irish Showdogs Final to compete against the other top three Dachshunds and then ultimately the other top dogs in the other breeds. The judge was ????????? from Denmark, she ended up as the Top Dachshund and when competing with the other group winners she ended ninth All Breeds. We are thrilled!

Joshua has been on the Florida circuit during January and ended up with being the Top Wire after only being with Barbara Waldrich, the handler of Am Ch Birchmere Flavio, number one Male in the US in 2008, for only a week. He has been enthusiatically received by the fancy with his new handler. We send Joshua and Bryan our best wishes for Westminister, where it is Flavio's last show and the Specialities, shown by Barbara, in the days previously.

November 2008

Joshua, Jessica and Dean have been invited to the Eukanuba International show in California. Of course Jessica and Dean are not attending but they send best wishes to Joshua.

November 2008

WOW, WOW, what a fortnight!!!!

Firstly Midland Counties under Nora Price, we took Jacob and Jessica. Jacob won 2nd in open dog and was then called back into the ring to take a lovely surprise RDCC behind one of the top dogs of the year. Jessica then won a wonderful open bitch class beating the top wire bitch this year and two champion bitches.

Then we went to the Great Joint Dachshund Association under Pam Poulter of the Lankelly Wires, owner and breeder of the famous Black Bryony, the bitch breed record holder. Mum showed Jacob in the open dog class with three GB champions and a CC winner. He emerged victorious and then he then won the DCC, a complete and extraordinary surprise and then Thomas, who won 2nd, was called back into the ring to win RDCC. Then we took in Violet into puppy importantly she loved the attention and won fourth. Then Jessica was in open bitch and again a lovely class and she also won this class in decisive fashion. Incredibly she also won the BCC, an amazing day!!! Then the battle was on to see who would win BOB. Jacob carried on capivating the judge and won BOB. We can't express our thanks to the judge Mrs Poulter for a day that we could never have dreamed of.

To have bred these three Wires (including Joshua) in one litter we have to thank Jill for their mother, who won the top brood bitch cup at the show, and able to use Percy shows the Silvae lines still flow strongly in Barmaud lines. Joshua sends his congrats to his brother and sister from the Windy City, home of the new President of the US. Joshua has also been out and about and is in the top ten (Pedigree System) Wires in the USA.

Meanwhile Jessica has been invited to the Irish Show dogs Final in January. Only the top four Dachshunds have been invited. No other Wire variety has been invited.

July 2008

Sorry just need to catch up!

Jessica won the group at the IKC show under Luis Catalan of Portugal, Dean has won group 2 at Bray show under Pat Clayton of England. Jessica then won group 3 under Billy Blount of Ireland, Jessica won group 4 under Susan Kealy.

Jacob won his last two green stars and with his last green star he won BOB and then group 3. He has appeared in the group 3 times and has placed in every one. He now makes our second litter an all champion litter. With Jacob and Jessica winning in Ireland and Joshua winning in America we are so proud. We thank the much lamented late and great Jill Johnstone for Beads and Kim and Duncan McCalmont for the use of Patriot.

In only two homebred litters we have made up five Irish champions and an American champion. We look forward to bringing out our babies at some point in the future.

In the English Toy Terriers, Beth, at the tender age of 9 months, has won her first two green stars under Mr Koroczs from Hungary and Anne O'Keefe from Ireland at

April 2008

Congratulations to Joshua on getting pulled out at the Dachshund Club of America at just over 2 years of age.

Christer Wik in Sweden tells me that Rosie's son, Fennaur Isfahan, won Best Dog 4 at a show in Sweden.

But the big news is that Thomas, now owned by Nina Dible, won his 2nd CC and BOB at West of England Dachshund Association under breed specialist Tessa Thomas (Shenaligh) and then BIS under Pam Poulter, variety specialist. We are very proud of this boy, Nina and Brian and Joan with whom he lives with.

March 2008

Crufts is over for another year and we decided to take Jacob and Jessica to the show. Jacob thrilled us by winning fourth in Limit dog not bad for a two year old dog with only a few shows under his belt.

On the Monday we got a wonderful phone call from America from Midge to say that Joshua had been to Badger Dachshund Speciality with 122 dachshunds and 38 Wires. He won not only BOV but BOB - which here we would say BIS - on Saturday with BOV on Sunday, he could now be called BISS Ch Barmaud Joshua.

January 2008

The patter of tiny paws have arrived, born to Joy and Jacob, we are over the moon with these very interesting babies.

The show season here has stopped but Barmaud dogs are still going to shows in other parts of the world.
The wonderful news reached us that Am Ch Barmaud Joshua is now finished in seven shows with TWO speciality 4 point BOW. He has never been beaten in the classes. We are just thrilled with his accomplishments.
Fennaur La Notre (ex Barmaud How Sweet It Is) won Best Dog, CAC and the titles Nordic Winner and Junior Nordic Winner 2007 at the biggest Scandanavian show, Stockholm International at the tender age of 12 months.

Ch Barmaud Dean Martin and BIS Ch Barmaud Jessica, CJW-07 have both been invited to Irish Showdog finals, we are the only kennel in Ireland to be given this honour, Jessica and Dean finished 2nd Top Dachshund equally on the all breed system, but on the breed system Jessica won Top Wire with Dean second, Joy was third Top Wire Dachshund in the all breed system

December 2007

Whoops, haven't updated for such a long time!

We have had a fantastic year making up FOUR champions
Ch Barmaud Dean Martin
Ch Barmaud Rita Hayworth
BIS-Ch Barmaud Jessica, CJW-07
Ch Liebling Cross The Pond to Barmaud, CJW-06, CW07.

We are the only kennel in Ireland to have won four groups with three different dogs, Jessica, Dean and Joy, our American beauty.
We are also the Top Dachshund Breeders in Ireland, all coats and number 6 all breeds, not bad for a kennel of only two litters so far.
At the Club ch show we won DGS with Dean and breed the BGS and BOB in Dean and Rita's sister Ch Barmaud Katherine Hepburn under world renown specialist Markku Lampero of the Freckleface/Lamark Dachshund kennel in Finland.
We are hoping for the patter of tiny paws in the New Year, if you are interested please contact us.

August 2007

A fantastic month of shows, culminating in the Circuit (five shows in a week). Jessica won the breed with Dean best dog and she gets a group 4 on the first day, we unfortuately unable to get to the second and third due to work commitments. But we returned with avengence winning the breed with Joy at the fourth show and winning best bitch the fifth show with Jessica standing reserve both days. Joy has now been to four shows with three wins and a group win.

The best news of all that Joshua, at his first show, won WD, BOW and BOV, over a special, with a Group 4 in the USA. We are thrilled when the win pictures arrive we will put them up on the site.

July 2007

Yet again we won the group with Ir Ch Barmaud Jessica, CJW-07 , this BB award gave her her title

The next weekend gave Ch Barmaud Dean Martin his champion title too with group 2 under Michael Forte. Silvae Beads, aka 'Olive' came out of hiding and she won her sixth green star, one more needed for her champion title.

So far this year we have made up three champions, we are delighted.

June 2007

Another amazing day out. Am Ch Full Circle Angel's Song won her first green star and BOB plus the group. Wow, three groups in three shows with three different dogs. We are flabbergasted.

Just an amazing three weeks, BIS at an all breed ch show last weekend we went to the Ulster Dachshund Club Dean won BD and Jessica won BOB and RBIS.

This weekend saw the first Irish Kennel Club FCI international show where the Dachshunds would be in their own group. Dr de Santiago from Puerto Rico judged and gave Barmaud Jessica, CJW-07 best bitch with CACIB, at her first go, Barmaud Dean Martin won best dog and the CACIB and triumphed over his half sister for BOB and then amazingly won a lovely first ever Dachshund GROUP.

Both Deano and Jessica now have six points out of seven needed for their titles.

May 2007

Wow, well what can we say! BIS at an all breed ch show with 2,000 dogs with a homebred is beyond our wildest dreams and to do it with a 15 month old is amazing. Barmaud Jessica, CJW-07 is probably only the second Wire Dachshund in the history of Irish dog showing after Betty Farrand's famous Ch / Ir Ch Grunwald Graduate in the early 50s.

Obviously, we would like to thank the judges at Hibernian, Jean Blandford of the famous Flaunden Dachshunds and Deerhounds for the breed, Howard Tonks for the group and Mrs Kay Creamer for BIS.

We would also like to thank our friends and supporters for the amazing reception she received on Saturday.

To the late great Jill Johnstone of the incredible Silvae Wires for Jessica's mother and to Kim and Duncan for allowing us to use Patriot, he is a great dog!

Jessica has now been to only SEVEN Irish shows and won 5 green stars, 2 reserves, a class win, RBIS at the club ch show at 8 months, G4 at Fermoy and now G1 and BIS.

Her first was at the famous Tammsvik show where she won sixth out of an amazing 51 bitches in open. Rosie's granddaughter in Australia won best junior in show.

With three boys in the line up and two bitches in their line up. Rita walked away with the RBGS behind the bitch breed record holder beating English champions. Pip and Olive are of course thrilled just as long as we take them to some shows too!!!

March 2005
Well it's a long time since we had any news. Ir Ch Patlyns Oh So Lucky, Piper can now have the name Ir Ch Patlyn's Oh So Lucky, An Ch 04 as he was the top winning Min Wire in Ireland last year.

Not only that but Piper is now in the USA. After Carol Reisman saw him at the Irish Hound Association she fell in love with him and so he went off on his holiday's for two years. We of course miss him dreadfully but he has settled in well and having a fabulous time showing off. In his first weekend of shows he won two BOBs and two Group 3s under Everett Dean (former Westminster BIS judge) and George Heitzman. He has also won other BOB, BOS and BOW. He also garnered a BOB under Frank Sabella. First and foremost he is loved to bits.

October 2004
Ir Ch Silvae Fitzfine, Mavis and I went to Midland Counties ch show in England and won second in a big and very strong open bitch class and pulled in for the RCC. The judge was Derek Smith, a Dachshund judge, he said of her "another super Dachshund that I liked a lot, pleased in head and lovely dark eye, so good to go over, so well made and ultra sound moving, keeps a good topline, in beautiful coat, lovely bone and substance throughtout yet still so feminine."

October 2004
Patlyns Oh So Lucky, Piper, won the dog green star, BOB and RBIS at the Dachshund Club of Ireland under M. Derouet (France), the second time in two years. Ir Ch Silvae Fitzfine, Mavis, won RBIS last year. He now an Irish champion in only eight outings, he won BOB at seven with the eighth being best dog. We are absolutely thrilled by this little boy.
