Precipitation
Precipitation is the falling down of rain, snow, hail, dew and frost.
Rain: Water evaporates and forms clouds in the sky. Clouds, consisting of tiny specks of water are forced higher into the sky and join together. When the cloud becomes too heavy it starts to rain.
Snow: When the temperature high up in the sky is as cold as in a freezer the tiny specks of water turn to ice. The specks of ice join together to make snowflakes which fall to the ground.
Dew: If there are no clouds in the sk, the hot air rises into the sky. The ground gets cold and the air above the ground gets cold. If the air has a lot of water vapour in it, tiny specks of water are laid down on the ground. This is dew.
Frost: If the air is very cold, then the specks of water on the ground are frozen into ice.
