The
Halligans are an old Irish family. They have their roots in the
Northern county of Armagh and in the southern counties of Cavan and
Kildare.
The Halligans do not have a coat of arms according to some historians etc.
Well check out the bottom of the page where you will find a link to one.We don't have clan meetings every Saturday night around the bonfire, where we tell old stories while picking
We were a minor family don't you know!! associated with a larger clan.
The Halligans were physicians and healers to the greater clan McGuire.
So if you have a doctor or a bandage in your house well done. Keep up the tradition.Let me draw you a picture: Ireland (the Republic of ) has a population of 3.5 million
Northern Ireland on the other hand has a population of 1.5 million but lets not get into that.
So believe it or not I don't actually know
your long lost uncle Herbert or great aunt Bridget not to mention
Sheila and her Irish Wolf Hound "Bamba". It's a bit akin to you being
asked if you know the New York Smiths
who left Germany in 1822 and made their way to the New World in leather
trousers.
The Moral of the story is that I am a Halligan with great roots and
this is simply a web page and not a
Halligan search facility BUT IT MAY BE OF SOME ASSISTANCE. But don't
get me wrong
I don't mind hearing from you as long
as you don't expect me to get on my bicycle and pedal around Ireland
in search of your long lost ancestor
(May the road rise before you.) as we say.
