Music and Culture All students are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of social and cultural activities, including drama, quizzes, debates, work for charitable organisations and music. The quality of musicians and singers representing the college has been frequently recognised at national level with numerous awards in competitions such as Slogadh. Earlier this year our musical group toured in Germany. Indeed cultural exchanges are a feature of school life in Beech Hill College and this March a party of students enjoyed a two week stay in France. Sport and Recreation Physical Education is part of the curriculum for all classes throughout the college and as many students as possible are encouraged to actively participate in a wide range of sports. Sports teams are not the preserve of the few and teams take part in inter-schools competitions in Gaelic Football, Soccer, Basketball, Track and Field Athletics, Cross Country - all for both boys and girls, as well as in Hurling and Camogie. In-School competitions are also popular, while all students are taught to swim. Our modern sports facilities are complimented by a 400 metre, 8-lane all weather running track and by twice yearly visits to Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre.
