The hot liquor tank is a stainless steel keg with a 3000 watt electric heating element. I have fitted a thermostat temperature sensing probe, a sight gauge, a valve to let the liquor out through and a valve to let cold water in through. The whole thing is insulated with expanding foam from a aerosol can and mounted as high as is possible on the brewery wall. This piece of equipment makes brewing a lot easier, I fill the tank, set the thermostat and timer the day before the brew so when I start to brew the water is ready for me. Then I refill it for sparging and it does the rest.
