July 1st-14th

Camp 2000 was a regional camp to Kandersteg in Switzerland. The troops that went were Ballinlough , Blackrock , Carrrigaline , Frankfield, Mahon and Passage.

The group set off from different locatons very early in the morning of the 1st of July 2000.and met up in the ferry terminal in Rosslare. There then followed a short ferry crossing to Fishguard where we soon embarked on our Journey across Wales and England where we ended up in Pourtsmouth for the nigth crossing to Le Harve. We got slightly delayed on our journey from there through France and Switzerland to Kandersteg. We ended up arriring there at about 3.30 a.m. Our first night in Kandersteg was spent indoors as we arrived too late to pith tents. The majority of the next day was spent pithing tents and preparing the sites.

The next 10 days were packed full of fun and adventure the activities included White-water rafting, Hillwalking, Mountain biking, Climbing wall, Swimming, Glacier hike plus trips to Luzern, Interlaken and the Transport Museum in Luzern and many more. There were also activities on site including Kander games, International BBQ and various games of Football. There were also two regional campfires and one International campfire during the time we stayed on the campsite. The weather for the first week we were there was very good but for the second week however was dissapointing with regular spells of rain and thunder.

The return Journey back to Ireland followed the same route exept we stopped in Disneyland Paris for a day. We arrived back in Cork at about 10.00 on Friday the 14 of July and an enjoyable camp was had by all
