Green Schools Project

School Background Information
St. Ibars National School was established in 1984. There are currently 230 pupils in the school. We have further extended our school with the addition of a new classroom. Currently there are 9 classrooms with 1 class in the G.P. room.

1. Green School Committee

There are 29 members on our green School Committee. They include the Principal, 12 teachers, the secretary, the caretaker, 2 parents, a Tidy Towns representative, the learning support teacher and 10 pupils representing sixth to 1 classes. Class teachers each held an environmental hour where pupils wrote their views on Why Should We Recycle?. From 6 to 4 two pupils were chosen and from 3rd to 1one pupil was chosen. The teacher, pupil and class are as follows Mr. Heeney - Ali Murphy and Megan O’Malley 6 class, Mr. Lyons – Jonathon Smith and Eoin Lambe 5 class, Ms. Dempsey – Barry Oliver and Frank Kelly 4 class, Ms. Cullen - Enda Cloake 3 class, Mrs. Rossiter - Hannah Scully 2 class, Mr. Brown - Ciara Moody 1/2, Mrs. Joyce - Kara Doyle 1 class.
Entries were posted on the Green Schools Notice Board.
Off this committee we also have a sub committee for Healthy Lunch Policy comprising of a teacher - Mrs Kavanagh and 6 pupils - Karina Stamp, Megan O’Malley, Jodie Hynes, Lauren O’Connell, Sarah McDonald, and Hannah Fox.
