Swallow

The swallow is a common bird in Ireland from April to September. At present the swallows are busy nesting and raising their broods . Their long forked tails makes it easy to distinguish swallows from house martins, sand martins and swifts. People all over Ireland love to see the swallow returning because they are sign of Spring and Summer. They live on insects. Come the Autumn they are off to South Africa for the Winter . Lucky them! We see lots of them around the school yard at present.
