"The Lancelot is being detailed to Chersa IV in the Crossroads. The USS Sutherland has made first contact with a newly warp capable culture. Your mission is to relieve the Sutherland and perform picket duty until you are relieved by a permanent task force. This taskforce will begin construction of a starbase.
The Chersans are a very religious culture and quite peaceful. However their planet is extremely rich in various minerals and they are going to be a prime target for more dubious individuals.
To make things worse there have been reports of attacks on merchants attempting to establish trade by the Arion Pirate Syndicate. There are also rumors of outside groups, like the Ferengi, smuggling advanced technology to various fringe groups in violation of the prime directive. Therefore the Lancelot is also to provide customs services for the planet.
You are to inspect every ship that is transporting anything to the surface for contraband. You can use shuttles for this or what ever resources you can.
