MISSION THREE

File Update: U.S.S. Lancelot NCC-74410 Mission Addendum

Report by Commanding Officer, Commodore S'Slanne, U.S.S. Lancelot NCC-74410

"The Lancelot has been ordered to travel to Gha'ss station, in the Haatori system, for repairs and re-supply.  The station is a Imperial Gorn navy base.

It has a small civilian population to support catering to the military but there are very few none Gorns.  Federation types will stand out (Vulcan and Romulans better go out in well armed groups.)   While on the station the crew will be working closely with the Gorn allies, while training and educating each other.

For example members of the crew may be asked by the Gorn to go on training cruises with the Gorn navy, or security training, Gorn martial arts, or practice Gorn engineering."

Entry 1:

"I cannot help wondering whether such a crew exchange would be in the best interests of this crew, although diplomatically it will boost trust and understanding between us and our allies,  it will however, take only one incident to occur which would have a detrimental affect on the alliance.

I will be meeting with my counterpart in some conferencing sessions regarding negotiations of maintaining and furthering our alliance while implementing pleasantries. I hope the negotiations skills of the Gorn have improved since those of the past. Only time will tell.

One thing is definite though, it will undoubtedly be a difficult time for all."

Entry 2:

"Immediately prior to the Gorn Ambassador's arrival I had organized a conferencing session with the Intelligence and Security Departments. Intelligence was represented by the Chief, Lieutenant (j.g.) Digit and Security by its Deputy Chief, Lieutenant (j.g) Drake.

Matters were discussed pertaining to the upcoming exchange as well as those matters which will run constant through all missions. Each department highlighted their goals as an individual team to which an understanding was sought so future inter - departmental interactions may occur. It was however clear that the common goal was that which was best for this ship, its crew, Starfleet and the Federation.

However, personally, although he posed productive input, this officer cannot help being suspicious of our Chief Intelligence Officer and his motives. It will only be over time and through continuous relations will both become clear. It is in hope that this officer may uncover no grounds for this suspicion.

On the other hand Lieutenant (j.g) Drake has been nothing but helpful and I am assured that in my role as JAG Officer I will be a forwarded all necessary aid in the fulfillment of these duties.

As regard the exchange, he and Lieutenant (j.g.) Marshall have arranged heightened security precautions while the Ambassador is aboard making this officer feel more at ease.

The assigned Ambassador, in conjunction with the Gorn matriarchal society, Se'eth, is one of the strongest voices in the Gorn government supporting a stronger alliance with the Federation however she has a formidable record and will undoubtedly ensure that what is negotiated will be ultimately for the betterment of Gorn Society. As again, only time will tell."

Entry 3:

"A new crewmember has been assigned aboard the vessel, furthermore an Alien Specialist named Amanda Andersson with rank of Crewman 1st Class. She has been assigned to the Diplomatic/JAG department under my authority, her duties being specifically species, culture and language analysis

First impressions convey shyness on her part with a fear of completing duties without being supervised. I have had discussions regarding this matter and have indicated to her, that if she has questions or requires aid, to approach me but otherwise I trust her judgment."

Stardate: 63655.7

Entry 4:

"Amanda has integrated well into the crew overcoming some of her initial shyness which I believed would have hindered her both personally and in her related duties. She is an exceptional crewmember and undoubtedly she will be instrumental in the course of my own duties and I am confident she will substantiate the faith I have shown in her.

Although only here a few weeks she has expressed a desire to actually enroll in Starfleet in the aim to receive a commission, however wisely, she has halted at coming to such a conclusion so soon.

Upon her arrival and her posting in this department her father, Commodore Andersson, made contact with me via subspace, asking me to watch over his "little girl", although I could not help feeling it was more of a warning.......! The Commodore will be surprised the next time he sees his daughter, that she is no longer a little girl ....... but a lady."

File Update: Ensign C.J. Datz's Personal Log

Report by Chief Diplomatic/JAG Officer, Ensign Datz, U.S.S. Lancelot NCC-74410

Stardate: 53658.4

Entry 1:

"This is the first of many logs I hope to making regarding the following subject matter. Not since the Academy have I had such feelings for a particular individual, feelings and emotions of anxiety, confusion, happiness, enlightenment and curiosity. The officer, no .... the beautiful lady in question has permitted me to experience a wealth of emotions and I do sincerely wish we may become friends, good firm friends however  ...........

She is in my mind every time and I think she knows of my growing emotions for her but she fears ............. she fears of being hurt ......... fears she might not say or do the right thing ........ the fear of friends mocking my intentions and hers ...... is that not what being in a relationship is about .........? Feelings she regards as fear I interpret as fun ........ the turning of my stomach when I see her, think of her ...... the shivers running down my back when I am in her company ....... the sensation when she touched the spots on the side of my face ............. is this not ...........?

I am on my way to see her now ........ as again I feel an impulse to say "only time will tell" but isn't time sometimes an awful barrier ........!"
