This is CK35J1 the rescue unit for Carrigaline fire service it is the main RTA appliance it carry's all of the main rescue equipment needed for Road Traffic Accident's. The equipment consist of cutting gear in the photo below starting on the left is the ram this is used mainly for pushing the dash of the casualty's legs. Next to that at the back is a small portable hydraulic pump and this is used for getting into small spaces. Or if we have to carry equipment a long distance this would be used, as it is light and easy to handle it is used in conjunction with the cutting gear. To the front of the pump is the glass management box this would contain tools to help in the removal of any glass. To the left of this is the shears (cutter). (In the USA it is called the "jaw's of life".) This piece of equipment is used mainly for cutting the roof of a vehicle it can also be used for cutting any other part of a vehicle that may need to be removed or cut. And to the left of that is the spreader this is used for opening doors of vehicles that have been forced shut on impact it also has a Varity of use's (Lifting, pulling, pushing).
