History of School

Clontubrid National School was built in 1930 and renamed Scoil Naomh Fiachra in 2002. In these pages we look back, not just to the story of this school, but to the schools which preceded it in the area.

The first school built in the area was Clone School, which was built in 1831, and which had well over 200 pupils before the Famine.

Balleen School was built in 1838 and Clontubrid National School was built to replace it.
