Mi World

Introduction

In April we completed a project called Mi World which we entered for the Mi Wadi Cultural Heritage Awards. The project takes a look at our world, past, present and future, from the pupils' point of view.

We decided to divide the project into Mi Past, Mi Present and Mi Future. The project was done in the form of a digital video film which the pupils shot and edited.

For Mi Past we took a look at a famous historical site in the locality. Rathbeagh is believed to be the burial site of Heremon, the first High King of Ireland. We looked at Rathbeagh to try to find out if it could have been the fort or burial place of a king. We also looked at the origins of the people who built these forts and where they came from.

For Mi Present we took a look, in film, at some typical activities in the daily life of our school.

For Mi Future we took an imaginary look at what we think life might be like in the future. In the future we believe that many things will be controlled by computers and robots. We are doing some work with robots in our Control Technology project so we used what we learned on that project to make some robots which could act out a story from the future. When we had the robots working we filmed them and this film, and the robots make up the third part of our project.
