Aims & Objectives
The aim of the Girl's Brigade, being a Christian organisation, international and
interdenominational shall be: to help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment
of life.
Programmes
The Girl's Brigade provides activities, designed to help girls to attain physical,
mental and spiritual maturity, and encourage girls to express what they learn through
practical service to home, community and Church. Girls are divided into different sections
because of age.
4-8 years are called Explorers. 9-11 years Juniors.
12-14 years Seniors. 15 and over are called Brigaders.
On a normal night the girls would start the evening with a prayer. We would then do
some marching, exercises (free work), skipping, bible study, crafts and drill. We meet
every Thursday in Ardfallen, Douglas. Explorers are from 6-7.30pm and
Juniors/Seniors/Brigaders are from 6.30-8.30pm. Our G.B. year is from Sept. to April when
we hold a display. We also go on district camp every year.
Volunteer Profile
We have four officers teaching. The Captain is Susan Perrott. Officers are Audrey
Shellard, Sheila Miller & Yvonne Cousins. We also have 2 sub-officers who also help in
the evenings and they are Lucy Bryan and Lyn Kidney. Last Updated, October 29, 1998
