SPECIAL RECONCILIATION SERVICE

On Thurs Dec 19 there will be a special reconciliation Service in Kells Church at 8pm in preparation for the celebration of the Feast of Christmas.

People who wish to meet the Lord in the Sacrament of Reconciliation that evening will be asked to approach the Sanctuary as if they were coming to Holy Communion. You then approach one of the priests and simply say ‘I am sorry for my sins – I ask God’s forgiveness’ (or similar words). If there is a particular sin or area of your life you wish to mention, you can also do so. Then the priests will give you absolution.

A large number of visiting priests will be present.

CAROL SERVICE

FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

As the 8th of Dec falls on a Sunday this year, the Feast is celebrated on Monday 9th. It is NOT a Holyday of Obligation. Masses in Kells will be at 7.45am and 9.30am and in Girley at 8pm.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL ANNUAL COLLECTION

ZAMBIAN IMMERSION PROJECT POBAILSCOIL CHIARAIN

Pupils from Pobalscoil Kells continue their fundraising efforts in order to participate in voluntary work in Mazabuka, Zambia next year. The students will be bag packing on Sat 14 Dec 2002. The pupils hope to fundraise for the cost of their trip building a well and buying medical supplies. Further information from Pobalscoil Chiarain 51551.

You are asked to use the WHITE envelope from your Box of Envelopes or an ordinary envelope with name and address. Envelopes should be deposited in the collection box at the doors of the Church and not on the collection plates, if possible. The Offertory Collection on Christmas Day is also part of the Offering Day

JANUARY 1 2003 – WORLD DAY FOR PEACE

Since January 1967, January 1 has been designated ‘world day for peace’. In the light of the new born Prince of Peace, this day is reserved for intense prayer for peace, education towards peace and those values inextricably linked with it, such as liberty, fraternal solidarity, the dignity of the human person, respect for nature, the right to work, the sacredness of human life, and the denunciation of injustices which trouble the conscience of humanity and threaten peace.

CHRISTMAS IN OUR PARISH

A word of appreciation is due to all those who were directly involved in planning and executing the ceremonies in the Parish at Christmas – in particular the Sacristans, Organists, Choir, Folk Group and Silver Band, those who prepared the cribs and decorated the Churches, and the Parish Liturgy Committee.
