The Epiphany is the manifestation of Christ as Messiah of Israel, Son of God, and Saviour of the world. The great Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the adoration of Jesus by the Wise Men from the East, together with His Baptism in the Jordan and the wedding feast of Cana in Galilee. In the Magi, representatives of the neighbouring religions, the gospel sees the first fruits of the nations, who welcome the good news of salvation through the incarnation (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

What Journalists Have Not Told Us - - -
Much comment has been made on the agreement between the Government and some Religious Orders on the compensation issue.
St. Josephs Orthopaedic Hospital in Coole, Co. Westmeath was managed by the Daughters of Charity. The weekly grant was £8 per patient and was not increased for 6 years. This was to include all expenses including staffing, maintenance, care, food etc.
In the early 1970s the Sisters received £200 per year. The Trustees wished to raise this to £500 but the Department refused. This was a clear case of Government abusing the commitment and dedication of the Sisters.
