CEMETERY REFUSE:

Yet another increase has been announced to us in the cost of disposing of the contents of our Skip in the Cemetery. The new price will be £115 excluding VAT. Add to this the rent of the Skip at £34 per month excluding VAT.

We already had to introduce a smaller second bin to take certain materials, which are not allowed in the Skip. This costs £80 per month. For the next three months the Skip will probably need to be replaced twice per month. This will mean that the cost of waste disposal in the Cemetery will be almost £350 per month. It is becoming more and more difficult for the Cemetery Committee to absorb the costs of disposal. We appeal to grave holders to instruct contractors erecting or maintaining their kerbing or headstones to take any waste away with them. We also appeal to the general public to take home, where possible, any waste. We also encourage fresh flowers to be used.

We do need the co-operation of the public, as the absence of a Bin would inevitably result in dumping and eyesores in various areas of the Cemetery.

12.15 Mass – We appeal to the public to take the missalette home.

Lost: Engagement Ring. Ph 40751.
