The Silver Band invite all to the Annual Rosary at St. Colmcille’s Well at 8pm, on Monday in Climber Hall. This tradition has lasted over 100 years and your presence will ensure its survival for many more years.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

A Bereavement Support Group is now available to help people deal with the death of a loved one/ loss of any kind. A safe space will be provided for people to talk freely about their experience of grief. Contact Parish Office 40213.

PARISH FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITEE

There will be a Special Meeting on Tuesday next (June 10) at 8pm in the Parochial House to consider the views expressed by parishioners in the recent survey.

HILL OF SLANE

On Monday 9 June 2003, the Feast of St. Colmcille, at 8pm the Christian Fire will be lit on the Hill of Slane, Co. Meath and will be followed by concelebrated Mass in Irish. All welcome.

PARISH FIELD ON NAVAN RD

It has come to our attention that many groups of people are using the field on the Navan Rd without permission and without producing proof of insurance cover. We have been advised by our insurance company that we must regulate the position legally if we wish to offer the field to any groups.

As such it is necessary to close the field to all groups from June 15 2003 until the matter is regularised to the satisfaction of our insurers.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS AND OLYMPIC FLAME

On Sunday June 15 THE OLYMPIC TORCH which originated in Athens, Greece will pass through Carrick St, Kells at 12 noon. All are welcome to view this historic occasion.

Kells will welcome the Latvian Special Olympic Team and coaches on Sun 15 June. We look forward to a real warm welcome for the visitors. The Latvian Team will do a walkabout in Town on Wedns morning. The Latvian Team, along with the Toga and Macedonia teams will be the guests of honour at a Civic Reception in the Headfort Arms Hotel on Wedns 18 June at 8pm.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS HOST TOWN VOLUNTERS

Volunteers for the Special Olympics are reminded to attend their meeting in the Vincent de Paul Mon 9 June at 7pm.

Kells Theatre School: Our second end of year variety production will be held on Sunday June 15 in the St. Vincent de Paul Hall. Two performances will be staged at 3pm and 8pm. The students will perform Drama/Dance and Singing. Adm. €6. Come along and support youth theatre.

Be an Artist for a Week’: Working along with artist Betty Newman-Maguire at her studios at Castlekeeran, Carnaross Kells. Age groups 7-13. Weeks Monday 7 July, July 14 and July 21, 10-1pm. Painting, sculpture photography, clay modelling etc. Details 45915.

PETERS PENCE – SAT and SUN 28/29 JUNE

The Offertory Collection at Mass tonight and at all Masses tomorrow Sunday will be forwarded to support the Pope and his pastoral care in Rome and throughout the world.

In October Pope John Paul will celebrate 25 years as Pope. He has truly spent himself in the service of the Lord. People are asked to be more generous this year in the Peter’s Pence collection in recognition of his extraordinary dedication and courageous witness at all times and in all places to the values of the Gospel.

ST. OLIVER PLUNKETT ANNUAL MASS

The Annual Masses will be celebrated at Loughcrew, Oldcastle on Sunday July 6 at 3pm. Archbishop Sean Brady will celebrate the Mass and preach. All welcome.
