AGE OF FIRST CONFESSION AND FIRST COMMUNION

After consultation, Bishop Smith has informed us that from 2004 onwards, the Sacrament of First Confession and First Communion will be celebrated in 2nd class. This brings the practice in our Diocese in line with most other Dioceses in the country.

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD

Today (Sept 8) in Dunboyne, Tony Gavin will be ordained a priest for service in our diocese. He is the first of two ordinations this year in our diocese. Please remember both of them in your prayers.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

This week over 1000 pilgrims, including many invalids, travel on the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. As they will be praying for the needs of the diocese, we in turn are asked to pray in solidarity with them.

A report has been received from the architect re the approximate cost of essential repairs to our 180 year old Parochial House. The report has been considered by the Parish Finance and Administration Committee who have advised that the essential repairs should be carried out. It is expected that the work will commence during the coming week.
