Fear

What is fear? Fear is a survival mechanism that is a reaction to some negative stimulus. It may be shown as a mild caution or it can be an extreme phobia.
Fear can lead us to hide, to run away, or to freeze in our shoes.

Fear may arise from a confrontation or from avoiding a threat, or it may come in the form of a discovery. Fear can also change our behavior.
Ask yourself a question how can fear change my behavior?

Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger—if we didn't feel it, we couldn't protect ourselves from legitimate threats. But often we fear situations that are far from life-or-death, and thus hang back for no good reason. (what is a legitimate threat ?) Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell.

Mind Cultivation of FEAR.

Fear and anxiety have a message that desperately wants to be heard. When we can quiet ourselves to listen, like we would do for a friend, inner wisdom has potential to arise.

Q. What am I fearful of and why?
Q. What rational talk would you have with a friend who is experiencing an episode of fear ?
Q. Is what I am fearful of rational ?
Q. Does the fear I'm feeling have direct connection to me ?
Q. What part if any did I play in the scenario that has contributed to my fear ?
Q. Can I Mindfully change any part of the scenario?
Q. What's the worse case scenario?
Q. Can I Practice Mind Cultivation?

To become mindful of fear is to think for a moment about the last time you experienced fear. To think about the thoughts and sensations you felt. How long did the experience last. This is the beginning of your mind cultivation on dealing with fear. The practice is to carry this awareness into the next experience of fear with knowledge and courage of an open mind to address the experience before it spirals out of control by maladaptive thinking. Practice brings strength. Refer to your NTR.
