The Morrigan

The Phantom Queen

In mythology the Morrigan appears as both a single and triple goddess.

She appeared to Cuchulainn and offered her love to him. When he failed to recognise her and rejected her, she vowed to hinder him in his battles.

On the way to his last battle he met an old washer woman at a ford who declared she was washing the clothes and arms of Cuchulainn who would soon be dead.

When he was finally slain she settled on his shoulder in the form of a raven.
