Joe Healy was born in Cork City and moved to it's satellite town of Carrigaline in 1983.

While editor of the Carrigaline Community Newsletter
and P.R.O. of Carrigaline Festival, he availed of the opportunities to photograph the people and places of South East Cork.

He has amassed a collection of more than 25,000 negatives and transparencies while documenting the area.

A founder member and former secretary of Carrigaline Photographic Society, he gained a Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1986.

Currently employed as an image controller with the Irish Examiner newspaper in Cork city, his interests include Irish history & genealogy, sport, current affairs and occasionally playing tenor saxophone.

The cameras used included Leica M3 and Contax 1A rangefinders, Nikon F90 SLR and more recently Nikon and Olympus digital.
