Cobh is situated on Great Island in Cork Harbour on the south coast of Ireland.

The island is connected to the mainland through Fota Island by rail and by road.

The Cork-Cobh rail line spans the harbour from Fota to Marino Point. Access by road is through Fota at Belvelly Bridge.
A cross- river ferry connects Carrigaloe to the other side of the river Lee at Glenbrook.

There are many points of access from the sea, including the Deep Water Quay, Kennedy Quay and East Ferry Marina
