Patch Trading is all about swapping badges (patches) with Guides in different places.

It is a very popular hobby among Guides and Scouts and one which is a lot of fun but you should follow the guidelines below. (COMING SOON)

We will have information on how to get started and guidelines to follow to make it worthwhile.

A popular way to display your badges/patches is on your Camp blanket or campfire blanket

Pin Badges are also traded and can be displayed on hats etc 

 

 Getting Started

Patch trading can be expensive so have a budget before you start.

You will need to buy badges (patches) from the Scout Shop Ltd in Capel Street

You should buy the following badges

                                           

 CGI Badges                     Diocese of Dublin            Council of Irish Guiding Associations

Make a list of the patches you want. A good place to start is by collecting the Diocesan badges

                                     

Diocese of Armagh                  Diocese of Clogher                     Diocese of Cork & Ross

                        

 Diocese of Derry & Raphoe        Diocese of Ferns                  Diocese of Kilmore

Diocese of Waterford & Lismore               

Decide how and where you intend you keep them.

Popular ways include

·         on a camp blanket

·         on a campfire blanket

·         in a display folder

·         make a company badge flag

Gather any patches you may have already. You may have moved on to a new section and have a Cygnet Guide patch, Brigin badges and awards, Guide badges and Awards, Rangers Way badge. You may have patches you bought or swapped while on camp.
