Cork to Bantry : The longer but more scenic route-2 hours

1. Follow the signs for the AIRPORT. Pass the entrance of the airport and keep going for about three more kilometres when you will see a turning off for KINSALE. You will reach this exquisite seaside town about twenty minutes later. I would advise you to take time out to walk the streets of this town famous for it's cuisine.

2. Head for the small village of INNISHANNON and then on to BANDON.

3. At the top of Bandon turn left at the bridge for the Clonakilty Road.

4. From Bandon you will pass through Gaggin and Ballinascarthy (birthplace of Henry Ford) before reaching CLONAKILTY.

5. The next stop is ROSSCARBERY and then LEAP. From Leap the most direct route would be to head for SKIBBEREEN .However if you have time take a left turn in Leap to visit the beautiful seaside villages of GLANDORE, CASTLETOWNSEND, UNION HALL and BALTIMORE which can also take you to Skibbereen.

6. From SKIBBEREEN, one can can take the road to Bantry . There are a number of different routes to Bantry, all of which are well signposted.

DIRECTIONS from COUNTY KERRY

1. If one is traveling from Killarney you should take the N71 Muckross/Molls Gap Road which will bring you into KENMARE. There are many spectacular views along this road so make sure to have your camera!

2. For those traveling along the RING OF KERRY simply head for KENMARE.

3. From Kenmare take the road for GLENGARRIFF passing through the tiny village of Bonane. You must travel through the famous tunnel which divides the Cork/Kerry border. This route can also be quite spectacular.

Where to go when you arrive in Bantry.

  1. When you arrive into Bantry ,you will see the Wolfe Tone Square and follow the sign for the HOSPITAL .
  2. This takes you through the town centre, following a one-way system and up past the library on your left. Further on you will pass a big Church on your RIGHT .
  3. When you pass the Church take the 2nd RIGHT . On this turn you will see a brown sign for DUNAULEY .
  4. 50 yards further on, and take 1st left.
  5. About half a mile further on you will see the next brown sign for DUNAULEY. -- a sharp turn to the LEFT.
  6. We are the 3rd House on the RIGHT . (Stay in a low gear until you reach the house as we live on a hill ! ). Our front door is at the back of the house.
