jason3.gif (23692 bytes)Hi,my name is Jason Dunphy.

I am in a special class this  year. There are only nine in the class. There are six in sixth and three of us in fifth class. We have one teacher for all of us. His name is Mr O'Neachtain.

I get up at 8.00 p.m. every school morning. My mother calls me. I cycle up to school on my own. I arrive at school at about 8.45 am and then I lock my bike in case it gets robbed. The school starts at 9.10 am. When the bell rings we line up in our classes in the yard. Then the teachers come out and we walk in quietly. We go to our classrooms , take off our coats and sit down quietly. Most of us do that.

On a Monday morning we all do "Our News". We work on the computers when we are finished our work. We only have one proper computer in the class. The other ones are really old. We had to put bits and pieces together to make them work. We had to match cases, monitors, keyboards, and a mouse.

jasonin1.jpg (12486 bytes)We get a short break to go to the toilet at 10.00 am. We get three minutes to go in and out. We get a break at 10.30am. At break time most of the boys play football in the yard. Each class has its own space in the yard. We have a small place of our own, as we are a small class of nine. I do not play football at break time .I just walk around with my friends. I eat nothing at small break time. Some boys bring crisps and drinks or chocolate bars. We come in at 10.45.am. And then we do work on the computers and the rest do maths. We all get on the computers .Our teacher got some old computers from factories for us. They are very handy for doing our projects on and doing our e-mails to America. We all do 20 sums on the Acorn machine. We also do Maths on the PC. It is called Maths Workshop. At the end of the session a gorilla goes bowling. It has great sound effects. If we do well we get a certificate. We can print it out and stick it in our scrap book. We keep our work from the computer in these books.

At 11.30 we do Religion. We learn all about people like Moses. We are making our Confirmation this year. Richard, Liam and myself go to Mrs Hayes for help with out English until 12.30 p.m.

project10b.jpg (15201 bytes)It is now lunchtime and I go up to Centra to my mother to get my lunch. I usually get a sausage roll and a can of coke. I cycle back to school and I eat my lunch in the class. Most of the lad's stay in the class A teacher is on duty at all times. The lads who live near the school go home. We go out at about 12.45pm and run around the yard or play football. We come in at 1.10pm.

At about 1.15p.m we do history until about 1.40p.m and then three boys go to Mrs.  Hayes at 1.40p.m until 2.10p.m. We do other English back in our own class.

We do a bit of handwriting at about 2.15p.m. We have special hand writing copies, with blue and red lines. I like working on computers. I like typing in stories. I like Crayola art. We do art every Friday at 2.00 p.m. until about 2.45p.m with paper and paint. Sometimes we cut out and use stencils. We made lovely Christmas cards with stencils. We printed messages inside. Then we take down own homework and go home. We do not get much homework, thank God.
