EI-RCG displaying at the Salthill Air Show, 7 July 2002.
This Sikorsky S.61N, EI-RCG (c/n 61807), is one of four S.61Ns operated by CHC (Ireland) Ltd., formerly Bond Helicopters (Ireland) Ltd., under contract to the Irish Coast Guard (ICG) as medium/long-range Search and Rescue (SAR) and MedEvac helicopters. It was delivered to Shannon on or about 25 September 2001. This S.61N first flew in Norway as LN-OQB, and then was imported into the UK as G-BZSN. A fifth S.61N is due to be operated for the Irish Air Corps to cover the North-west coast of Ireland using a mix of military and civilian crews and engineers.
The photo above shows the rotatable infra-red imaging pod on the left side
of the front cabin, and the HF aerial on the right of the cockpit (Shannon,
31 August 2002).
