18 students from 5th year travelled to Austria with two teachers, Miss Ruane & Mr Daly.They spent seven days in the Wilder Kaiser resort of Kelshau.They Skied from 10:30 until 4:15 everyday.At the end of the week the girls competed in a slalom.They got badges to certify that they took part and lots of photos for their memories.The girls said they never spoke so much Irish in their lives , and even taught some English boys (!!!!!) and girls that were staying in their hotel to speak Irish.During the week they were entertained by a traditional Austrian show and all enjoyed it immensely.The girls also enjoyed a night at a disco in the snow. All the girls arrived home looking fit and healthy after their energetic week of skiing.

The transition year students under the guidance of their art teacher Ms O Sullivan, held a "RECYCLED FASHION COMPETITION" which was open to all students. Their brief was to design an outfit from waste materials. The results were striking and very imaginative. There was a great diversity of materials . The competition was held over three days and the overall winning entry was designed by a group of fifth year students Jennifer Quinn, Keira Keenan and Sinead Hugh. Their design made from newspaper, insulating material .chicken wire ,mirrors and CDs was modelled by Sinead Hugh. Second prize went to a very wearable design with great attention to detail by Clare Rogers (second year) made from onion and potato sacks and creatively dyed. This piece was modelled brilliantly by Aisling Hugh, also from second year. Third prize was an elegant gown designed by Maria Mulvaney and aided by Paula Newman , Laura Clarke and Louise Caulfield and modelled by Sarah Jane Hickey ,all from second year. This piece was a wonderful top with separate sleeves knitted from strips of black plastic with an underskirt of curtain-lining and a clear plastic overlay sprayed silver, with buttons made from bottle-tops.
