Note 1. These are the 3 main regional transmitters for the South and West of Ireland. Due to their high power output, they can often be heard well outside their usual coverage area. Mullaghanish is a 649 Metre high mountain located on the Cork / Kerry border. This transmitter covers most of Counties Cork, Kerry and Limerick. Maghera is a 400 metre high located in the North of County Clare. This is the main transmitter for the West of Ireland and covers much of Counties Clare, Galway and North Tipperary. Mount Leinster is a 795 Metre high mountain located on the Carlow / Wexford border. It covers a large area of the South East of Ireland due to its height. |
|
Note 2. Medium power transmitters are used by the national broadcasters to fill in areas that are not covered by Mullaghanish or Mount Leinster. The Crosshaven transmitter covers the lower harbour area, parts of East Cork and the towns of Carrigaline and Cobh. The Dungarvan transmitter covers West Waterford and parts of East Cork. |
