In June 2007, they moved to this frequency from 97.4 MHz and they moved their transmitter from the UCC campus to high ground near Cork airport. This resulted in a poorer signal in the City centre but increased the overall coverage area.

Note 1.
These are the 3 main regional transmitters for the South and West of Ireland. Due to their high power output, they can often be heard well outside their usual coverage area.
Mullaghanish is a 649 metre high mountain located on the Cork / Kerry border. This transmitter covers most of Counties Cork, Kerry and Limerick. See HERE for precise location.
Maghera is 400 metres high and located in the North of County Clare. This is the main transmitter for the West of Ireland and covers much of Counties Clare, Galway, Limerick and North Tipperary.
Mount Leinster is a 795 metre high mountain located on the Carlow / Wexford border. It covers a large area of the South East of Ireland due to its height.

B = Clermont Carn, Co. Louth. 508 metres ASL.
C = Kippure, North Co. Wicklow. 752 metres ASL.

Signals from these transmitters can be heard in parts of Munster due to their high power and height. In addition, there are no real hills or mountains in the midlands to block the signals.

Unlicensed and pirate stations are not shown in the list above as they have no fixed frequencies and their hours of broadcasting can be erratic.

Note 4.
The frequencies of KCLR (Kilkenny Carlow Local Radio) are shown as they can be easily heard in parts of Counties Tipperary and Waterford. The same applies to South East radio.
