REFEREE HIGHLIGHTS
Who can be a Referee?
Any
individual who is willing to learn the rules, and invest the time.
As a referee you are required to attend a Ref clinic at least once a year,
and maintain a minimum number of games a year.
Referee Certification:
There
are three levels of certification for referees:
Level C
(Entry Level) |
1. Must attend approved referee's
clinic
2. Must pass Level C written
examination with score of 75% or better
3. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two higher level officials |
Level C
Maintenance |
1. Must officiate at least 10
games per season
2. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two higher level officials
each season |
Level B |
1. Must have been Level C official
for two years
2. Must pass Level B written
examination with score of 85% or better
3. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two higher level officials

Level B
Maintenance |
1. Must officiate at least 25
games per season
2. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two officials, one of
which must be a higher level, each season.

Level A |
1. Must have been B level official
for at least one year
2. Must pass Level A written
examination with score of 90% or better
3. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two higher level officials
4. Must have assisted with instruction
and training during at least one approved referee's clinic
|
Level A
Maintenance |
1. Must officiate at least 35
games per season
2. Must pass floor examination
consisting of standard peer review evaluation by two same or higher level
officials
3. Must assist with instruction
and training during at least one approved referee's clinic every
two years
|
Failure to meet maintenance standards will require
official to repeat certification qualifications at the level most recently
held.
