COLLEGE CODE OF CONDUCT
Purpose of Rules and Regulations
As a community of some 300 people, we have to live and work together for some thirty hours each week. Observation of the College Rules will ensure that all members of the College Community will have the opportunity to develop their potential to a maximum. In particular, such observation will enable us to
- instil in students a respect for themselves, others and the wider environment;
- set a pattern for adulthood, so that they will be able to develope habits such as punctuality, co-operation, appreciation and pride in their work;
- instil in our students a sense of responsibility whereby each student will feel it is his/her duty to ensure thah the behaviour of our students conforms to the Code of Conduct.
Since the disciplinary system is not repressive it is hoped that our students, when they leave school, will be young men and women of integrity.
While it is our policy to approach discipline as positively as possible so that students develope self discipline,we nevertheless, find it necessary to establish the following rules in order to facilitate the day-to-day operation of the College.
Attendance and Punctuality
Students are required to attend all classes regularly. A written explanation of each absence should be sent by parents/guardians to the school. This explanation may be provided by means of the student's class journal.
Students are required to be punctual at all times. A student who arrives late for class must explain his/her reason for being late.
The Class Journal
- Each Student is required to acquire a class journal. This should be used to record details of timetable, homework, etc. It is expected that the journal will be signed by a parent/guardian and the student's class teacher on a weekly basis.
- This journal must be available at all times for inspection, by either the College staff or parents.
- The journal must be maintained properly , and students are not permitted to draw on or otherwise deface the journal or its cover. Similarly, the removal of any page from the journal will be treated with the utmost seriousness. The student's journal is designed to last for the duration of the academic year.
- Notes from parents to the College and from College to parents may be written in this journal.
- All homework, both written and oral, should be recorded in the journal each day.
- At the end of the academic year, the journal will be collected from all students, and reference will be made to its contents etc. when compiling reports and/or references.
- A "Clear Sheet" at the end of any week should be regarded as positive affirmation-this will be taken into consideration when references and reports are being compiled.
Classroom
- Students are required to
- cooperate fully inthe work of the class;
- do whatever homework the teachers require;
- have with them class materials, textbooks, copybooks, pencils etc. as required by each teacher.
- Each student must use desk and chair assigned to him/her by the teacher.
- Students are not allowed to leave the classroom, except in exceptional circumstances and with the teacher's permission.
- No student is allowed in any classroom containing specialised equipment (Science, Home Economics, Metalwork, Woodwork etc.) without specific permission.
General Conduct

- Full school uniform must be worn at all times, and students must observe a high standard of personal hygiene and neatness/cleanliness of attire.
- Running, pushing, shouting etc. of any degree are forbidden. Students should walk at all times on the left-hand side of the corridors.
- All waste material must be placed in waste bins located in all classrooms, social areas and grounds. Students are expected to assist with the cleaning of the College and the general and the general up-keep of the College and its grounds.
- Students must show care for College property, both in the classroom and outside, and make good any damage to such property caused by deliberate neglect. Accidental damage must be reported immediately to either the Principal or Vice-Principal.
