The Forgotten Community

The Forthill community have been excluded again from the 85 million package allocated to sports and voluntary organizations under the 2007 Lottery Sports Capital Programme. Sligo Borough council submitted an application for a
grant of €295,000 to proceed with phase 2 of the Forthill Municipal Park. Phase 1 was finished 2 years ago. We have 4 elected councillors in our area and 2 TDs but these people as usual think the people in the Forthill area are good enough to come to when looking for votes, but not good enough to make representations on behalf of when they try to get a small portion of their area upgraded in any way, we are indeed the forgotten community. Our football pitch has been vandalised by thugs the dressing rooms were wrecked and what they could not burn they broke, if the club had to get the funding they were promised to finish the pitch it would have been more secure and this damage would not have happened to see photos of it, Click here
