June 2025 On the sunny evening that was the 18th of June 2025 I
decided to go the Motor Enthusiasts' Club Production Car Trial to do
some spectating or help if asked. When I got there one of the
competitors called me over and told me to check in that I was going
to double drive with him. Luckily I had my licence and the entry fee
with me. Soon after 5:45pm I was in the car and driving Lap 1 Section
1 I was slightly offline and put my front wheel in a hole and got
stuck before Gate 4. The object is to travel from Gate 10 to Gate 0
without hitting any of the stakes that define the gates or stopping
for more than 5 seconds or rolling back. I continued with guidance
from the car owner Frank Lenehan sometimes equalling his scores more
times not. The car was his late 1980s EP70 Toyota Starlet with no
modifications other than a knob on the steering. My best scores were
a 1 on Lap 1 Section 4 and Lap 2 Section 6. The event finished at
about 9:45pm and at the end of two laps and 12 sections I had a score
of 50 and 15th overall of 24 finishers compared to Frank's 31 and 7th
overall. The overall winner's score was 18. It was a very enjoyable
evening of motorsport in a very scenic location.
