ABOUT US

Currently co-ordinated by long-term climate campaigner Pat Finnegan, the team behind GRIAN is small as yet, but the intention is to grow at a rate appropriate to the scale of the problem involved, and to develop a capacity appropriate to the amount of time that has so far been lost in getting to grips with the climate problem.

GRIAN intends to maximise scarce resources by not spending money, at least in the early stages, on physical infrastructure, such as an office-based premises, but will rather concentrate on making sure that volunteers get the earliest possible chance to migrate to paid positions.

As a democratic, not-for profit association, GRIAN believes that its best assets are its people, their skills, their knowledge, and their commitment to GRIAN's mission and programmes.

GRIAN will therefore begin as it means to go on, with a positive emphasis on attracting the most dedicated and skilled volunteers in the first place, coupled to a clear understanding on both sides that volunteering is at best a temporary necessity, and not something which ultimately leads to long term sustainability for anyone.

Business as usual is definitely not something we believe in.

GRIAN is already co-operating with other Irish and international organisations in the production of new climate awareness resource materials and towards the provision of action-oriented climate solutions applicable both inside Ireland and elsewhere.
