Two shots of the female cone of Alder - Alnus glutinosa. The right hand image has been infected with the fungus Taphrina alni (recently renamed). I'll show a much redder specimen shortly.
The Elder berries are showing, now...another autumnal sign.
Two more hoverflies on Ragwort. A male Eristalis pertinax on the left and Helophilus pendulus on the right.
